Interesting beginnings

I brought my new army list to Legends yesterday to give it a play test and see if there are any change that I need to make.  I was pleased but am still uncertain as to a few things.

Saga for the wolf lord

The Wolf Lord is kitted as follows:

• Wolf Claw (re-rolls hits or wounds in close combat)
• Storm Shield (3+ invulnerable save)
• Wolf Tooth Necklace (3+ to hit)
• Runic Armor (2+ save)
• Runic Charm (5+ save against psychic power)

I have 3 options for the wolf lord and I'm still not certain which one I should pick:

• Saga of the Bear: Gives the model the eternal warrior special rule
• Saga of the Warrior Born: Gives the model extra attacks equal to the number or enemies he killed last turn
• Saga of the Beast Slayer: Rerolls to hit against models with Toughness 5 or higher (and with the wolf claw the lord retools both hits and wounds in close combat)

I'm still not certain... at least against blood angels it pays to take Saga of the Beast Slayer but it would be wasted against horde armies as would be any of the other sagas. THinking about it reminds me that I have to use the special abilities I give my guys... I never used the necklace 'hit on 3+' ability.... Grrr

Another painting idea

Here's another idea for how to paint powered armored space wolves. I'm still not sold on the colors but it looks like a quick and easy way to do it... particularly if we're doing over 100 marines :)

Although the author uses the scheme for Wolf Guard Terminators it should be doable for power armored marines too. I like the idea but may change the colors a little bit.

2000 Point Base Army List

Here is a preliminary list. Also note that this particular list is built in the time frame before Ragnar's ascension to the leadership of the great  company.  I want to have flexibility as to my primary HQ choice; I like Ragnar but for me he is not survivable enough even with a pack of grey hunters or wolf guard backing him up so I created a custom wolf lord who, in my opinion, is more survivable and just as lethal in close combat.
